Photo: From Days Gone By – Nashville, TN

I captured the photo above to preserve a little piece of Nashville’s history. While a sign from a car dealership might not seem like a significant piece of history to many, it does have some meaning in my life. When I was growing up, my dad had a friend that worked at this car dealership and I spent my fair share of time there. Thinking about Capitol Chevrolet does bring back fond memories of my childhood.

I have decided that I am going to make even more effort to seek out things and places in this city that I love and preserve them with my photography. I have already seen things I wish I had photographed disappear before I took the initiative to do so. As I have discussed on this blog before, I often wonder if the architecture of the current times will inspire me photographically by the time it gets to the age of this sign. Right now, I have a difficult time believing that it will. Something tells me that my photographic predecessors may have felt the same way. At any rate, all I know is that I am going to put forth even more effort to capture images of the things that I feel are worth preserving while they are still around to be captured.

  1. you have an interesting eye for composition and angles…
Nice though too. I try and photograph one mundane thing that means something to me (yesterday was the three pin plug in my kitchen).
