Quote for the day:

I never have taken a picture I’ve intended. They’re always better or worse.-Diane Arbus

I can certainly identify with this quote.  I don’t know if I would say never but I often find that the same is true with the photographs I make.  The ones I am sure will turn out great often fall short.  It is often the ones that I do not initially feel strong about that become some of my most powerful images.  I am not sure if I should be doing anything to change this or if I should just embrace it.

I would love to hear from you photographers out there.  Do you find this to be the case with your photography.

  1. For sure. Disappointment or pleasant surprise- What was I thinking? Doesn’t help, oh well…..I ll take it.

  2. I believe in SERENDIPITY. You have to try, and in doing so you stumble on the thing that works. However, if you are not prepared, you get nothing.

  3. I agree, Colin, we do get better with experience and better prepared in the process.

  4. Thanks for adding to the discussion guys.
